Tourist Information
Futuroscope Just 50 minutes away , you'll need a whole day for this one, highly recommended.
Monkey Valley 30 minutes away, rescued chimps (going to cry!) and other apes and monkeys.
Serpent Island 90 minutes drive, not just animals of the scaled, bug eyed variety they have fluffy stuff too!

Rochfoucauld Chateau 45 minutes, don't forget to visit the chocolate factory, just don't eat them all before you get home! even if you don't think you're artistic it's really worth a trip and take home a souvenir. Although we are rurally situated and, yes, we all just want to laze about on our holiday, there is plenty to do for those who want to get and about, especially if you have children. The list is rather long so we have highlighted the closest and most popular. Plus there is also horse riding in Lizant at Les Boutiers, Nautilus in Angouleme with its numerous indoor and outdoor pools, ice-skating, windsurfing and sailing, Giants of the Sky, nature and wildlife parks, Angouleme City, Poitiers City and Cognac. Fabulous river and lake beaches are between 10 mins away in ruffec at La Rejallant where this is a cafe/restaurant and Villefagnan with a snack bar, both have play areas. St Macoux is 15 minutes away, again with swimming and a snack bar. La Payre is about a 20 minute drive and has boats to take a small trip through a small canal, open air swimming pool with slide, small go-karts and play area, worth a trip. Cognac town and surrounding areas are worth a visit and you can always go on a tour and do some Cognac and Pineau sampling. Further afield are the lakes of the Haut Charente. La Rochelle and other beautiful coastal resorts are within easy reach, plus the less busy St George de Didon that has catamaran sailing and you can also visit the Forest of Sensation and Adventures. All information can be found at the gite. |
