About Us
We have now lived in France for 6 years. We spent our first year renovating our house and the 2 bedroom Gite and B&B accommodation to a high standard. Our children are in school here, now aged 14 and 10. After a few months (and tears) they settled in remarkably well. They are both fluent and it's absolutely amazing how they have adapted. It really helps to come here with young children as, whilst they are making new friends, so do the parents. When looking for a property our first and main criteria was 'no renovation' but, as ever, life changes and we eventually bought a house for renovating. So, after a lot of  'what are we doing?'
decided to use local French artisans and are glad we did.
About the Property
When we bought the house it only had walls, new roof, windows and doors. Inside there was 'rien' (that's 'nothing' in French by the way), no floor, just dirt, no plumbing (just 2 septic tanks and water to the mains) and no electricity. Small job then!
We have added the best in insulation, electrics and sanitary ware. The kitchens are hand-crafted by a French carpenter and the result is superb. We have kept as much Charentaise character as possible which includes the beautiful stonework and beams.
Outside
For your holiday pleasure:
2 acres of safe and secure grounds, above ground 15' splash pool, swings, slide, 15' trampoline undercover with net for children of all ages! Bikes (all sizes), a den with play kitchen, toys/games for the children. Barbecue and garden furniture. We have plum, cherry, hazelnut, walnut, pear and apple trees. A vegetable patch with soft fruits, vegetables and salad plus a herb garden with parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme (there's a song in there somewhere), mint, citronelle, basil, tarragon, margoram and chives.  You are welcome to sample anything that looks remotely edible, including the snails!
